Business need
Novartis, one of Ireland’s leading employers in the healthcare industry and takes employee care very seriously. Their manufacturing and development is based in Ringaskiddy, Co Cork. where they make active pharmaceutical ingredients for a range of medicines. When Novartis was looking for a company to fit-out the changing rooms for their new lab extension, they wanted the best.
Storage Systems Ltd, official sole distributor for Dexion and Bruynzeel in the Republic of Ireland & Northern Ireland, was the obvious choice.
Dexion solution
The team at Storage Systems recommended Dexion Lockers. These have been tried and tested in a wide variety of environments and they are popular with employees. They are welded and riveted in construction with every locker door supplied with full height door strengtheners.
Each compartment has a full width door plinth and support for extra security. The carcass incorporates nesting holes on all sides and a return flange at the base for extra strength and to reduce floor damage.

For their extension, Novartis ordered 100 of the single door lockers which are 1800mm high x 380mm wide x 550mm deep they are secured with camlocks, which are in a master key series.
Garment collector and garment dispenser lockers without doors were also installed into each changing room for the storage of garments and overalls. Novartis finalised their selection by specifying the dark blue finish. The facilities were further enhanced with double sided island bench seating.
The result
Changing room facilities may not be the first consideration for an architect when a new building is commissioned, but having safe and secure storage for personal items is vitally important to those who will work in it. The Dexion Lockers fulfilled the brief and they look good too.
