Business need
Andritz Hydro supplies, inspects and maintains hydroelectric and power plant equipment for power generation projects across Norway and beyond.
As a fast-growing business, Andritz Hydro has a continuously expanding inventory of components and products at its Jenvaker site – and in recent times this has created space shortages and issues with inventory management.
With pallets stored in several locations, and not necessarily to a logical system, locating and accessing products and parts quickly and efficiently was becoming problematic.
Constructor solution
Constructor’s masterful solution was to provide two new installations using pull-out units (POUs) – one for project-specific storage and one for the bespoke mounting tools that installation teams require swift access to.
The rationale for this is that components are purchased based on a project number that’s already registered when products and components arrive at Jenvaker.
Now, all products and components for the same project number are stored systematically in Constructor’s POUs, and Andritz Hydro installers can locate and access whatever they need, quickly and efficiently.
Mounting tools, for example, are stored in POUs with specially designed pallet collars to optimise the space, while higher pallet racks are used as buffer storage and for less frequently used items.
The Result
''With these fantastic new Constructor pull-out units, we now have a much-improved overview of our inventory, and we can now store, locate and access items with a much more workable and efficient system.” - Bjørn Inge Hoem, Andritz Hydro.
